The third DVD in the
series contains four episodes:
Rouge 09: Wiggle
– Blood has been spilt on to the streets of Lukuss, all because of
the work of Yoshii, what does he hope to gain by all of this
bloodshed?. Onishi is loosing his grip of power to those around
him, how long can he remain in control.
Rouge 10: Conclusion
– The war for power continues, and Yoshii is helping to keep the
hatred between the powers alive and well. A top official of the
Organo has come down from the hill, what if anything, will any of
the warring factions do about this sudden appearance.
Rouge 11: Vagrant –
Those who wants to take control,
must now hold their ambitions in check. Onishi is now under the
protection of the higher ups in the organization, but there are
those who continue to move against him. Their ambitions might lead
them to their down fall.
Rouge 12: Precognition
– Ran is overwhelmed by a vision of
Ishise future, what visions did see have that would cause her to
pass out. Visions of Ishise pass begin to haunt him concerning the
death of his father.
In the similar fashion of
the earlier DVD’s of the Texhnolyze series, the previous feelings
of mix messages concerning this series has turned into a
fascination with it. I eagerly await the next episode and the
twists and turns associated that lurk behind every corner. The
theme of Texhnolyze reminds me my experience with Serial
Experiment Lain series. Its series with a blend of sometimes
confusing and mixed messages, where within the episodes of the
series there are hidden messages and meanings. The story line is
finally starting to come together, but questions still remain, why
is Yoshii hell bent on trying to destroy Lukuss? Is it only for
his person entertainment or are there darker reasons behind his
motives? What of Ishise, where does he fit into the series? He is
a main character, but sometimes his roles seem delegated to those
of a supporting role.
The DVD includes
Anamorphic wide screen with a 16x9 aspect ratio, the quality of
the video is nothing short of amazing, even if the plot is a
slightly difficult to follow. With a merging of it’s own in the
video between CGI and traditional cell animation is almost
seamless. They complement each other beautifully, compared to
other anime series where the CGI seems to take away and not give
back. As for the audio, this DVD features Bilingual audio with
English and Japanese 2.0 and with English subtitles.
What additional features
does the DVD have to offer? Well sadly, this disc is lacking in
that department. This disc is comparable to the second DVD, in
which it’s lacking any major special feature such as any behind
the scenes work, whether it is interviews with the director or
voice actors, artist’s renderings, basically something special
that would add to the disc. More or less the standard features are
still here, which are, alternative Dialog Outtakes, some humorous
outtakes from the voice actors, who just had too much fun with
these series, DVD credits for those who worked hard to put this
disc together and upcoming releases from Geneon.
After viewing the third
DVD for this series, my previous feelings of mixed feelings seems
to be fading, with more of the story developing and the history of
the characters beginning to come to the surface. I’m starting to
crave more and more of the Texhnolyze series. A series with a dark
view, with its often confusing metaphors buried within each
episode. Texhnolyze is a series that will take some more time to
grow on me, definitely will have to watch the next disc to get a
deeper understanding of it. However, if you were a big fan of
Serial Experiment Lain and similar anime series, then this is a
definite view for you. I do look forward to additional features in
future disks, such as conceptual art work or interviews with the
voice actors. |
