» Description
Miyabi, Tina, and now Taeko. These are the girls living in the Sakuraba Mansion with Kaoru and Aoi that are not Kaoru’s girlfriends! While Kaoru succeeds in remaining faithful, the misunderstandings and challenges from these girls and the crazy situations they experience may still lead to bodily injury for our hero. Between ferrets and wild bathhouse parties, clumsy housekeepers and romantic evenings alone with women you are trying not to date, Kaoru can’t stay out of trouble! Then again, his pain is our entertainment…

» The Review!

After taking in this release in one whole night. I’ve have come to a conclusion, this series is slowly becoming something a lot like… Love Hina. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, I just thought there would have been a bit more original stuff in this at this point in the series.

We last left Kaoru… in a tight situation, which is about to get even tighter. He now lives in a house with Miyabi, Tina, Aoi and now Taeko, now that she lost her job. Kaoru and Tina, feeling sorry for her, tries to encouraged Miyabi to let her stay there and work as a maid.  Of course knowing the person that Miyabi is, and the type of klutz, Taeko is… that’s going to take quite a bit of convincing. And hey, while we’re at it. Let’s show some unexpected fan service like panties and other suggestive positions. Yep, you can expect to see a lot of that in this volume. And Pioneer made sure you’ll get your fare share of it by slapping in 5 episodes. Now where was I? Well it doesn’t matter, that’s pretty much the core of this volume. A few laughs, fan service and a slow moving plot, loaded with a few filler episodes. Well we do get to learn that Miyabi... has a soft side. It’s seen several times in this.

Believe it or not, this was a total accident.

Visually, the animation is still looking slick, even if it does manly consist of cute girls with slightly large breasts. Can’t go wrong with that, further more, much of the outfits the girls wear throughout the episodes will please many fanboys. And… oh yes, Tina still gropes women’s breasts… well mostly Taeko.

But moving away from the anime for a sec, Pioneer did make sure that this will be as amusing to look at… while not watching the anime it’s self. The packaging like the last release comes with revisable covers. One cover, of course being the default one, with Taeko standing in a cute maid uniform, along with the rest of the girls in the background. The other, a spicy one with Tina, Aoi and Taeko at the bathhouse, wearing your typical bathhouse attire -- Can you guess which one I’m using? It also comes with a nice insert in which, if you unfold it, you get a cute picture of Aoi.

As Matt discovered in our first review, the video is more or less flawless. Nothing wrong with it what so ever. This is good, because the last thing you want is aliasing to mess up such great looking animation. I haven’t had many problems with the audio; everything plays clear with the stereo mix that is included for both Japanese and English tracks. I took the time to listen to this in both the English and Japanese audio. In terms of audio quality, both sounded clear. In terms of voice acting? I regret having listen to the English, many of the character voices just didn’t seem to match up very well. Not sure what it is, but something just didn’t seem right. Plus this is a Bang! Zoom Entrainment dub… I think this is the first dub from them I was disappointed in.

I didn’t quite feel for the extras on this as well. There were more or less the same as the last disk, with Creditless Openings, nicely done Art Gallery featuring pics of Tina and Miyabi. Most of them good quality images. An Unofficial trailer, Pioneer promos and the revisable cover… then again I mentioned that already… the cover that is.

Well one thing I do like is the menus; Pioneer has put together some good looking menus for this. I to some extent like the transitions it goes through when you make a selection. The overall design and layout for them looks pretty good as well.

When it comes down to it, this disk is for fan service… even the Art Gallery has a bit of that. I’m not complaining or anything, just I feel that at this point in the series, we should be getting down to the story and more character development. Hopefully the next disks will provide more of that, and less fillers and ecchi. Because right now, this disk seems to be impressive in terms of design and presentations, rather than content.
