Didn’t think I’d be back with another update eh? Well I am, today we spent much of the day listening to 3 great upcoming anime soundtracks coming soon by Geneon. Like the last update, check below for our findings in this product update… Sorry no pictures today, camera is out of batteries and we’re a little over the company budget for the month… (Good thing November is only a few days away.)

Other Issues

L/R Original Soundtrack

Travel to a classic world of secret agents of the kiss-kiss bang-bang variety through 13 grooving tracks of rocking blues from Billy Preston! Based on the L / R anime being released in November 2003.

Available for the first time in North America! All Pioneer Soundtracks include song translations and phonetic versions of the lyrics in the liner notes for the packaging.

Run Time: 48 min

SRP: $14.98

Street Date: November 4, 2003

The Low Down!

A lot of hype has been going into L/R, just we never got hooked into it, to top that off we haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. But after going through this CD, we’re going to be a lot more interested in it now.

The insert is a simple 10 page booklet that consists of track listings, lyrics for all the songs, and of course credits.

Sound wise, this CD is great with its 5.1 goodness; a lot of the music is very upbeat, a few slow ones here and there, not many. As the title suggests, all of the songs featured on this have vocals. So if you’re looking something of an instrumental, you won’t find it here.  A good buy if you’re looking for vocals.

Rating: 6/10

X Soundtrack 2

Fans of the X TV series won’t want to miss this second original soundtrack packed with more songs from the hit series by CLAMP (X, Chobits, Cardcaptor Sakura)!

Available for the first time in North America! All Pioneer Soundtracks include song translations and phonetic versions of the lyrics in the liner notes for the packaging.

Run Time: 53 min

SRP: $14.98

EDP#: 52142

Street Date: November 5, 2003

The Low Down!

The 2nd X TV OST here is no doubt the very best CD we have in our pile today! Like L/R it comes out clear in 5.1. Along with the CD comes your standard 10 page booklet listing the track info, some lyrics, and credits. The music on this is by far one the best soundtracks I’ve heard in an anime TV series in awhile. About the only downfall is the 16 songs, but the quality of this whole release will make up for that. When released in November, be sure to grab this one, this is just one of those CD releases where you don’t have to watch the anime previously, to enjoy the sound.

Rating: 8/10

Someday's Dreamers OST

Don’t miss the sweet melodies that create the magical world of Someday’s Dreamer, an anime series being released in November 2003!

Available for the first time in North America! All Pioneer Soundtracks include song translations and phonetic versions of the lyrics in the liner notes for the packaging.

Run Time:

SRP: $14.98

EDP#: 52122

Street Date: November 5, 2003

The Low Down!

Someday’s Dreamers, is defiantly getting the most tracks award today, which is expected, because it’s only in stereo sound. Many of the songs are that of the classical type, so this doesn’t apply to everyone out there. Just those fans looking forward to anime should even be reading this from here on. The booklet is an 18 page insert that contains, track listings, some artwork, interviews with the composer, song explanations, and some lyrics. Rapping this off with a bio of Takefumi Haketa the composer to this, and the credits. This is certainly one well put together package.

Rating: 8/10

The Rap up

And so ends another column here tonight, next update we’ll see about getting some photos for the CDs we just finished talking about above. As well as another product round up of more music, from the anime world. And maybe an official logo for this column.

Later Otakus!
